What’s Christmas pudding?

It’s a pudding with nuts, raisins and sometimes with brandy.

When do you make it?

It’s traditional to make Christmas pudding on “Stir-up Sunday”. It is the last Sunday of November.

Silver coin.

People put a silver coin in the pudding. If someone finds the coin on Christmas Day, it’s good luck.

Ingredients:

  • 5 ounces of breadcrumbs
  • 4 ounces of raisins and nuts
  • 3 ounces of flour
  • 2 apples (peeled and grated)
  • 3 ounces of fat
  • 5 tablespoons of milk
  • 3 ounces of white sugar
  • 1 egg a pinch of salt
  • 1 ounce = 28,3 grams

Instructions:

Put the breadcrumbs, fat, flour and sugar into a bowl. Add the raisins, nuts, apples and salt. Don’t mix it. Beat the breadcrumbs into the milk and pour this into the bowl and stir. Put everything into a pudding basin and cover tightly with foil. Steam pudding for 4 hours.

You can decorate it with some holly.
