Escape from hustle and bustle of the city D08

There are few better places for practicing different kinds of sports than Zabierzów and its surroundings.

Walking, biking and climbing

The valleys near Cracow encourage the visitors to come here and relax just walking alone, with the family or a dog. The paths lead up and down, across the streams or torrents, through the forests, and some of them are quite demanding, so you won’t be bored.

If you are a more sporty person, take your bike and try the biking routes here (the best one starts in Zabierzów, then across Bolechowice to Zelków). There are eco friendly buses which can take you from the center of the city, but you can also rent a bike on the spot.Rocks which are the symbol of the Zabierzów Community are a great attraction for plenty of people who come to the valleys all year long and practice rock climbing – professionally or just as a hobby. A lot of the Polish well-known mountaineers and alpinists started their career here.

Horse riding

For horse lovers we have three horse stud farms. Everyone, the younger or the older can learn horse riding there, practice the skills or just have fun.

Zabierzow – the horse stud farm “Santos”, located near the church and the forest is the best place for the beginners. They offer a large area – two indoor courses and two outdoor ones as well as calm, small Polish breed horses – huculs. For experienced riders they have big horses and trails in the forests.

Nielepice – the huculs horse stud “SKH Nielepice” is famous for its horse trekking rides in the green fields and forest in summertime. In winter you can’t miss sleigh trips and then warming up in the “fireplace room”, where you can taste delicious Polish dishes (żurek – sour soup with a sausage, or bigos – sauerkraut soup with meat). Horse Riding Cross competition is organized there every year and it is said to be the most difficult one in Poland. In October “Race after a fox” – the tradition of St. Hubertus Day, the patron of horses and hunters, is still alive there.

Rzaska – Cracow’s Academy of Agriculture stud farm runs different courses here for its students (hipotherapy, breeding, dressage, etc), but they also have courses for individuals in horse riding and horse jumping.
