  • It is believed that a chakra lies under Wawel castle. It’s a secret stone with vast magical power. There are only seven places in the world where a chakra is said to be: Delhi, Mecca, Delphi, Jerusalem, Rome, Velehrad and of course Cracow.
  • There are four mounds in Cracow and one which no longer exists: Kościuszko Mound, Piłsudski Mound, Krak Mound and Wanda Mound. The Esterka Mound was destroyed in the XX century. Why did people build these mounds? They built mounds to pay homage to famous people after their deaths.
  • There are 40 000 pigeons in Cracow. They were used as postal birds, especially during times of war. There is a legend that says Cracow’s pigeons are knights that have been turned into pigeons.
  • At the time of the partitioning of Poland, a border between the Austro-Hungarian and the Russian Empires ran through the Kluczwody Valley in Zabierzow Gmina. And if all of your classmates stand in a row there, you will see "border Poles." (ha, ha)
