Rudawa and nearby villages A04
Piotr Nęcka, gimnazjum w Rudawie

Rudawa is a village located in the southern Poland, not far from Cracow. The name of the village comes from the swamps and marshes called “rudawy” or from the iron ore which was mined here a very long time ago. It is quiet, nice and safe here. There is one main street where the shops and the market are located. In the center of the village there is a post office, a library and a Roman Catholic Church built more a 700 years ago. This is one of the most beautiful monuments in the area. There is also the football stadium, where the Orlęta Rudawa team currently plays in Cracow B class. The historic cemetery and the mass grave of the victims of the pacification from Radwanowice are located in the northern part of Rudawa. There is also a railway station on the Cracow-Katowice route and people use this train to get to work, do shopping, etc. In the western part there is a school.

There are other villages located near Rudawa: Brzezinka, Niegoszowice, Pisary, Radwanowice, Kochanów, Młynka and a few valleys. The Kluczwody Valley extends to a length of about 7 kilometers. The most picturesque part is the middle section with many rocks on the slopes. The Bolechowicka Valley is one of the smallest valleys in the area, with a length of about 1.5 km. Next to it there is the Kobylańska Valley also called Karniowicka with a length of about 4 kilometers. It is probably the most picturesque valley in the area. The Szklarki Valley has a length of 9 kilometers and the slopes of the southern section are partly rocky.

Everyone who has visited Rudawa will be glad, because here one can spend a nice time and walk on tourist routes to the beautiful Valleys.
