We have been interested in Manga drawing for some time. Manga comes from Japan and the term comes from two words: Man – free and Ga – images, drawings. In modern times, it has come to mean Japanese graphic novels.

The Manga style is usually made in black and white colors and is popular in art and literature. Although it’s criticized for containing violence and sexual themes there is no legal prohibition. This freedom allows artists to draw Manga for every age group and on each topic. When you look at the pictures one detail draws your attention – large eyes. The characters' hair is often an unnatural colour. Traditional Manga comics are written from right to left. Some Manga publishers change this order to make it easier for Western readers.

Some Manga expressions:

  • o hekiga – dramatic images
  • mecha – robots
  • maho shojo – magical girl
  • o semi – individual publications
  • o la nouvelle manga- special artistic move
